OPERATIONS  SUPERVISOR

CKF Inc. is a leading manufacturer of molded pulp, including Royal Chinet tableware, and extruded polystyrene products with five plants across Canada. The Hantsport location is seeking an Operations Supervisor in their Production Department.  A working knowledge and assistance in all production areas and processes is required. This is a salaried position, Monday to Friday, overtime required.  This is a fast-paced manufacturing plant that runs 24/7.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Establishing and maintaining Production within established procedures, processes, and budget.
  • Supervision and organization of the workforce, including but not limited to, continuous monitoring of the workforce and identifying training requirements.
  • Establishing and adjusting work procedures and placement of manpower to meet company’s production objectives.
  • Identifying and resolving plant production problems.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments, quality control, and maintenance.
  • Providing leadership, where employees are engaged contributors continually improving performance and results and achieving daily productivity targets.
  • Initiating process/continuous improvement, and Lean Six Sigma initiatives on the floor (i.e. reduce waste of product and material).
  • Participating in production meetings.
  • Monitor review and approve all production and quality reports.
  • Knowledge of all Hantsport production related mill processes and assist in trouble shooting issues as required.
  • Assist the shift supervisor as required, directed by the production manager.
  • Working with management to plan and implement programs supporting short and long term business needs.
  • Working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the company’s Health and Safety Roles and Responsibilities. Promoting the company’s safety vision.
  • Communicating Company policies to all employees.
  • Review, write and maintain production SOP’s as required.
  • Relieving and supporting the Production Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing sector in a supervisory role.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience with grade 12 minimum.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Employment Standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral, written communication skills and a strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and organize in a team environment.
  • Demonstration of a high energy work ethic.
  • Analytical mind, problem-solving skills and priority management.
  • Must be proficient in MS outlook, excel, and word and have the ability to learn new systems quickly and independently.

Working Environment:

  • Hantsport, Nova Scotia
  • Must be available during off hours for consulting and intervening during emergencies

CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE (12 month term)

We have a term position available at our Hantsport, NS location for a Customer Care Representative, reporting to the Customer Care Supervisor.  This job requires the employee to provide client service to a specific group of customers and sales team.

DUTIES INCLUDE (But not Limited to):

  • Receives, verifies and processes all purchase orders, credits and debits for customers
  • Matches all supporting documentation regarding dispatch of orders and trigger for invoicing
  • Processes all sales orders amendments on a daily basis within guidelines of order processing cycle
  • Prints invoices and sorts, mails, files and distributes them as required
  • Ensures rules around minimum quantities, lead time and cubing are met
  • Maintains information/documentation regarding pricing, promotions, discounts, etc. for all assigned accounts
  • Receives and responds to Action Shipment Discrepancy Advices
  • Manages product availability and customer delivery dates
  • Works closely with plants to manage product availability, lead times and cubing
  • Communicates on a timely basis with customers regarding any changes or problems with their orders; e.g. pricing discrepancies and shortages
  • Prepares sample sheets for assigned customers and sales reps
  • Provides relief to other customer care representatives
  • Continuously looks for areas of improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:            

  • Must possess a grade 12 completion certificate and some post secondary education
  •  Must have a minimum of 2 years customer service experience
  •  Must be proficient in the use of Excel
  •  Must have good problem solving skills
  •  Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to always remain polite and helpful with customers even in the most difficult encounters
  • Must be willing to work overtime and varying hours as required

GENERAL LABOUR

Our manufacturing plant in Hantsport, Nova Scotia, is looking for several employees to work in our growing production facility.  We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week year round, and need physically fit people who can work 12 hour shifts in a fast paced environment.  Successful applicants must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.  All employees begin their career at CKF packing our molded pulp products and then have the opportunity to advance to other more challenging positions, such as Machine Operator, over a period of time.  We are a unionized organization offering competitive wages and an extensive benefits package.

  • Perform daily equipment operating checks as directed and recording information as required.
  • Communicate with production operators to identify problems and/or repairs required. Communication of when specific job is complete and equipment is safe to operate again.
  • Complete job work orders with all pertinent repair information and store parts depletion data.
  • Perform shop housekeeping duties in order to maintain a safe working environment therein. Cleaning of specific job work area after job completion.
  • Fabricate parts as required utilizing shop equipment.
  • All maintenance work to be completed by competent tradesmen in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario and the Regulations for Industrial Establishments.

TOOLS REQUIRED

A full complement of tools is expected of a tradesman in this position.

Job Duties

  • Examine and inspect product to ensure quality standards are met
  • Remove defective product and record/dispose of it appropriately
  • Place units in plastic bags as per product specification
  • Place packed items in cases/cartons, box/seal the case and apply tracking label
  • Stack cases appropriately
  • Monitor machine for jam-ups or other malfunctions
  • Maintain good manufacturing, good housekeeping and safe operating practices at all times
  • Assist machine operators and other workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of minimum experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Willingness and ability to work 12 hour continental shifts
  • High degree of accuracy and detail orientation is essential
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
