Working with the leadership team of Scotia Investments and its subsidiary companies, they will take the lead to refine, implement, and manage the IT strategy to support the successful implementation of the business strategy. The Director, IT will leverage their technical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services to internal and external clients.

As the ideal candidate, you bring significant, progressive senior IT experience within a complex organization and have held a position of leadership for several years. An advanced degree in computer science, engineering and/or business (MBA) or a related field is preferred. Your IT background provides you with extensive and broad knowledge of technology environments, data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems. You have an intrinsic understanding of how technology can be leveraged to execute strategy for a large company with diverse business lines, in multiple provinces. As the leader of IT, you can direct the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of the infrastructure that supports the diverse companies and their operations and business applications. You have a demonstrated understanding of best practices in the fields of strategic technology planning execution and can advise the senior leadership team on the emerging technologies that are most relevant to the Companies goals and evolving needs. This leader in Canada’s pulp molding industry is growing.  We are looking for two Industrial Mechanics to join our maintenance team in Hantsport, Nova Scotia. Applicants must have an Interprovincial Certificate or be close to finishing their Apprenticeship.  This is a shift work position in our plant that operates continuous 12 hour shifts (2 days/2 nights/4 days off)).   • Perform routine and preventive maintenance work as required or assigned including tool set-ups.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems.
  • Identify electrical or electronic problems.
  • Perform minor or elementary electrical repairs on 110 volts or less circuit.
  • Maintain stores organization and identify parts shortages to Maintenance Manager.
  • Routine inspection, repair and lubrication of all extrusion and thermoforming equipment including ancillary support equipment.
  • Perform daily equipment operating checks as directed and recording information as required.
  • Communicate with production operators to identify problems and/or repairs required. Communication of when specific job is complete and equipment is safe to operate again.
  • Complete job work orders with all pertinent repair information and store parts depletion data.
  • Perform shop housekeeping duties in order to maintain a safe working environment therein. Cleaning of specific job work area after job completion.
  • Fabricate parts as required utilizing shop equipment.
  • All maintenance work to be completed by competent tradesmen in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario and the Regulations for Industrial Establishments.

TOOLS REQUIRED

A full complement of tools is expected of a tradesman in this position.

  • Examine and inspect product to ensure quality standards are met

SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYST

CKF Inc. has an interesting opportunity for this corporate role working out of the Hantsport office and reporting directly to the Corporate Manager of Logistics and Customer Care.   With a strong commitment to operational efficiencies, this role is responsible to assist in controlling the transportation of our products to customers at the best possible cost, and for participating in production planning, inventory control, and warehouse space requirements.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinating PPIC meetings involving review of slow moving items, quality control, inventory coverage, production planning and warehouse requirements
  • Analyzing SLOB for all plants and working with Shipping and Production to implement inventory solutions
  • Working closely with production schedulers on prioritizing loads, customers, and products while liaising with Sales and Customer Care and providing feedback and updates to all stakeholders
  • Assisting with reviews of shipping costs and ensuring CKF is getting the best rate for our loads and that our loads are cubed to the maximum
  • Pursuing innovative solutions to freight and traffic requirements
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of the annual Corporate Freight budget and expense budget for the Logistics Department
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating optimal freight methods and costs
  • Resolving freight issues/carrier failures and following through until solutions are found
  • Researching and providing quotes for new business, including Buy/Sell opportunities
  • Assisting with quarterly and yearly savings tally, working towards a budgeted savings and pursuing leads for improvements in logistics
  • Reviewing opportunities to reduce GHG emissions and reporting to the Sustainability Committee on transportation related GHG
  • Investigating carrier claims and inquiries, working closely with Deductions Coordinator
  • Developing metrics and providing monthly updates to Logistics Manager
  • Assisting with Supply Chain projects
  • Representing the Department in most CI initiatives

Qualifications:

  •  Post secondary education (preferably a Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent.
  • Professional logistics, CPIM, and/or supply chain designation would be an asset
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in logistics, warehousing, shipping, and customer service related activities
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, with above average skills in Excel
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Above average analytical and problem solving skills
  • Flexibility to work varying amounts of overtime and travel as required
